Indoor Bowls
Indoor Bowls is a very popular sport in communities across New Zealand. It is relatively easy to learn and is played by people of all genders and ages.
Special Olympics Canterbury provide competition for Indoor Bowls to a National level but there is no pathway to an international competition through the Special Olympics Programme.
Athletes compete in Singles, Doubles, Triples and Team events.
Opposing players or teams play on a matting surface measuring 22ft long by 6ft wide and use wooden bowls boased by shaping them in a similar manner to lawn bowls. Balls are played to a target ball called a ‘jack’
