Alpine Skiing

Alpine Skiing is a seasonal sport of which Special Olympics Canterbury do not provide weekly training within the season.

The club does however, have a small group of keen skiers that compete at the Special Olympics Winter National Games and take part in the training weeks.

Depending on ability, athletes can compete in Super g, Slalom, Giant Slalom, walk or glide races.

Competition is offered in three levels:

  1. Novice
  2. Intermediate
  3. Advanced

Fifteen metre walk and 15 metre glide races are offered for beginner level athletes and those developing their snow sport skills.
